about the exhibition
Journeys Through Paint and Lens
All of us, in one way or another, are on a journey.
Sometimes we set out because of an inner calling, other times out of necessity. Our reasons vary from seeking ourselves, discovering new places, experiencing the world through fresh perspectives, or just taking time out of our busy lives. Each journey shapes how we see and how we interpret the world, filtered through our unique perceptions.
This exhibition brings together two such expressions—personal interpretations of the road taken, and the moments discovered along the way. Every sketch, every photograph is both a record and a lesson: opportunities to see, to reflect, and to grow.
Veronika captures her travels in watercolour sketches, distilling the colours, textures, and impressions of the places she encounters.
Joel captures his journey through the lens of a camera. His photographs, presented in black and white, strip away distraction—because life is already full of colour. For him, monochrome is a way to search for simplicity, to look beyond the noise, and to see life’s essence more clearly.
Our paths crossed in Zagreb, Croatia, towards the end of July 2025, on an ordinary evening in the shared kitchen of a guesthouse. What began as a chance meeting grew into long conversations about travel, creativity, and the ways we see the world. This exhibition is the result of that crossing—an attempt to share our light, our stories, and the ways in which our journeys intertwine.
And now, we invite you into this dialogue.
As you move through these works, we encourage you to reflect on your own journeys and to let the images and sketches stir your own interpretations. Share your thoughts with us, meet us, and bring your perspective into the conversation. For it is in exchange—between artist and viewer—that meaning deepens, and the journey continues.

Veronika Schubert
I’m a self-taught artist. I like to tell visual stories about everyday life, mostly sketching about my own struggles and adventures. I perform in different styles with various types of materials, such as graphics and comic style complied with a simple fine liner, gouache, watercolor, acrylics.
Joel Alphonso
Hi. I am a creator and story teller at heart and love to use this flair to bring my art work to life.
I am on a journey that continues to surprise me in unexpected ways. What began as a simple urge to explore has grown into a path of discovery, creativity, and connection.
Photography is the medium that speaks to me most. I work in black and white because life is already full of colour—monochrome allows me to strip away distraction, search for simplicity, and see life’s essence more clearly. My subjects are often abstract, with occasional glimpses of people, animals, or fleeting moments that present themselves to me.
For me, photography is more than capturing light. Each image is a meeting point between emotion, thought, and technique—an invitation for viewers to pause, interpret, and bring their own perspective. I often pair my photographs with short reflections, but I believe meaning truly comes alive in the dialogue between image and viewer.
I am grateful to those who have encouraged me to follow this path, and to everyone who takes the time to engage with my work.
I am an Indian who has found a home in Australia. Starting in Jan 2025, I have been traveling the world looking for experiences, meaningful interactions and am learning each step of the way.
